It's raining again...

I really can't recall a time when it rained this much in Dallas! I can hear the thunder rumbling every few minutes and as I passed by the windows, the street and cars were soaked again. So many thoughts and words have been spoken regarding this unnatural season of wet weather. Some have said, "tell the mega churches that we are no longer in drought and to stop praying." Others have mentioned the freak accidents that would bring tears to your eyes. Some are greatful that we don't need to water the lawns as much this summer. Still others are fearful of global warming. I'm thankful for God's promises and the rainbow he gave as our reminder.

Importance of Family

"I'm so glad your dad called me... you know I love him very much... and I love you, all of you." These were the words spoken by my Grandfather this past weekend. We celebrated his 96th birthday, my 29th birthday, and my sister's 25th birthday. We were all born in June. I met my Grandpa for the first time in January 0f 2007. Unfortunately my dad had a falling out with him around the time I was born and they didn't speak until the end of 2006. My Grandpa said, "I was ready to go at any time, but now that I get to see all of this (as he looked at his Grandchildren and Great Grandkids), I don't think I'm as ready to go yet." Every chance we get to see him feels like a miracle!! Cherish your family, and always let them know how much they mean to you. Sometimes each day slips past us so quickly that we forget to mention how much we really care.

Popcorn, Candy, and Evan Almighty...

With the new release of Evan Almighty, I've been tossing the idea of entertainment around. The movie seems to be innocent, but since it covers biblical territory I ask myself, should we be entertained in this manner? I watched Bruce Almighty, and felt there were parts that were slightly over the top. It doesn't surprise me considering Jim Carey had the leading role. Is it just me, or does anyone else feel like humor at the expense of the bible seems to be sacrilegious? Don't get me wrong. I totally love a good laugh and I still want to see Evan Almighty, but part of me feels uneasy about using Noah's Ark as a joke. I basically feel torn about watching a comedy and respecting God. I'm sure they kept a moral point to the story, though I've only seen a few previews. With Bruce Almighty, I felt as though their main point was "it's rough being God" and "have a little patience with prayers." Now, was it worth seeing to reach these conclusions, maybe. Tell me what your thoughts are on movies with "God Comedy" and specifically these two movies. You can also review Evan Almighty if you've seen it. I just may watch it to post a review.
